(U.S. Department of Energy)  Responses to Request for Information DE-FOA-0001526: Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Pilot Verification Capabilities  …   In February 2016, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) reached out to industry, academia, national laboratories, and other biofuels and bioproducts stakeholders via a request for information (RFI) to identify existing pilot- or process development-scale facilities. The goal of this RFI was to identify entities with the capability to perform process verifications for biomass conversion pathways to biofuels, bioproducts, or intermediates that integrate multiple unit operations on a scale of approximately 0.5 or greater tons of dry biomass input per day.

From the RFI responses, BETO developed a list of facilities within the United States that act as (or are willing to act as) pilot- or process development-scale multi-user facilities for biofuels and biobased products, chemicals, and intermediates, including synthesis gas, cellulosic sugars, bio-oil, hydrogen, biogas, and methane. Among the U.S. facilities that responded to the RFI, 13 utilize biochemical pathways, 14 operate through thermochemical pathways, 1 uses both types of processes, and 4 responses were not relevant to the RFI. The responsive submissions are summarized in the document linked below. Included tables list the facilities and key data.

The document linked below includes the responses as of the RFI deadline: March 11, 2016.
